Position Details

The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah is actively seeking two qualified pathologists specializing in pediatric pathology. These roles are essential to accommodate the recent expansion and the establishment of a second hospital campus, as well as to address upcoming retirements within this historically stable team.

Candidates are required to hold certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the American Board of Pathology or an equivalent body, and must be eligible for certification in Pediatric Pathology. Additionally, candidates must qualify for medical licensure in Utah. Compensation and academic rank will be determined based on the applicant's training and experience.


About the Division

The Division of Pediatric Pathology operates from Primary Children's Hospital, affiliated with the University of Utah. This facility, managed by Intermountain Healthcare, serves a five-state region in the Intermountain West, encompassing a 332-bed hospital in Salt Lake City and the newly inaugurated 66-bed Miller Campus hospital.

Currently, the Division comprises eight pediatric pathologists and features a fellowship training program. There are opportunities for mentorship and the development of specialized expertise in areas such as oncologic pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, neuropathology, perinatal/autopsy pathology, and laboratory/transfusion medicine.

The Department of Pathology is recognized for its outstanding clinical, research, and educational initiatives. It operates a national reference laboratory, ARUP Laboratories, and collaborates closely with the Huntsman Cancer Institute, offering exceptional avenues for research and educational advancement.
