Position Overview:
The Community Services Director is in search of a skilled technician to engage in mechanical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of both gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles as well as heavy machinery.

This is a full-time role, requiring 40 hours of work each week, and comes with a comprehensive benefits package. The hourly wage ranges from $24.42 to $35.42.

Key Responsibilities:
Below are the essential functions associated with this position (note that this list may not encompass all duties within this classification):

  • Conducts overhauls, adjustments, maintenance, and repairs on motorized equipment, including but not limited to automobiles, trucks, graders, tractors, sweepers, loaders, and other related machinery.
  • Performs extensive repairs by disassembling and replacing worn or damaged components, reassembling and fine-tuning gasoline and diesel engines, clutches, transmissions, drive trains, suspension systems, electrical systems, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Utilizes computer systems for diagnosing issues or troubleshooting fault codes on equipment equipped with internal computer controls.
  • Executes both minor and major tune-ups of electrical and fuel systems using the appropriate diagnostic and repair tools.
  • Provides emergency repairs on-site or at equipment locations as necessary.
  • Welds and modifies machinery, fabricating parts and devices as required or directed.
  • Installs various accessories such as lights, mirrors, and snowplowing equipment.
  • Maintains digital records of Fleet Maintenance by promptly submitting repair details upon job completion.
  • Operates vehicles and machinery as needed to ensure proper functionality.
  • May perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, and other necessary services.
  • Occasionally repairs small engines.
  • Remains available for emergency situations as required.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments, and the public.
  • Adheres to safe work practices associated with assigned tasks.
  • Keeps accurate computerized logs, repair orders, and maintenance records.
  • Undertakes other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possesses a thorough understanding of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty gasoline and diesel engines and machinery. Proficient in hydraulic systems, electrical systems, accessory power equipment, and welding and metal fabrication. Demonstrates skill in the use of mechanic's tools and equipment. Capable of following detailed oral and written instructions, technical manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. Able to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and determine necessary repairs. Provides guidance to equipment operators regarding technical and mechanical challenges. Maintains a computerized work order system and performs physically demanding labor in various weather conditions.

Education and Certification Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the repair of heavy-duty gasoline and diesel engines and machinery is necessary. Extensive training in welding, electrical systems, and fuel systems is preferred. A valid CDL-B with air brake endorsement, ASE certification, and NH Vehicle Inspection license are required.
