The City of Dover is seeking a dedicated individual to take on the role of a skilled supervisor in the management and upkeep of the wastewater collection and water distribution systems. This position entails overseeing work crews and ensuring efficient operations within the utilities department.
Position Details:
Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt
Salary: $31.60 to $45.74 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision: Direct and manage the utilities crew, often working alongside them on-site.
- Planning and Implementation: Assist in the organization and execution of work orders, overseeing construction and maintenance tasks to ensure quality service delivery.
- Training: Facilitate the training of team members in maintenance, construction, and repair of water and sewer systems.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect and repair pumping stations, reservoirs, meters, and other infrastructure to maintain operational integrity.
- Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records related to inspections, maintenance activities, and water supply metrics.
- Utility Location: Identify the locations of various utility lines prior to excavation work.
- Problem Resolution: Respond promptly to service complaints and implement corrective measures as per established protocols.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various sizes of trucks and heavy machinery, ensuring proper loading and unloading of materials.
- Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment, reporting any defects to the supervisor.
- Construction Tasks: Participate in physical labor for construction and maintenance projects, including pavement cutting and pipe repairs.
- Safety Management: Identify and report safety hazards and equipment malfunctions, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Emergency Response: Maintain availability for emergency situations and participate in snow removal and other emergency operations.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess considerable knowledge of construction methods and safety precautions relevant to utility maintenance. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, supplemented by coursework in wastewater and water treatment. Candidates should have at least four years of relevant experience and hold a valid NH CDL-B with necessary endorsements. Certifications in Wastewater Collection and Water Distribution are preferred.
