First Student is currently seeking a Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team, offering a competitive compensation package that includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus. About the Diesel Technician Role:
As a Diesel Technician at First Student, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles, including Freightliner, Chevy, and Dodge school buses, ensuring their readiness and safety while mentoring junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance checks.
- Diagnose and execute all aspects of vehicle and equipment repairs, covering brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensure the accuracy of work orders.
- Assist with mobile emergency services.
Qualifications for Diesel Technicians:
- A valid driver's license is required; willingness to obtain a CDL within six months of employment.
- A minimum of 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education.
- Possession of a complete mechanics tool set.
- A commitment to participate in the ASE certification program.
Training, testing, and bonuses are provided. Please note that this position is subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements.
