Position Overview

Role Summary: The Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending is well-versed in all lending policies and procedures, commercial banking services, cash management solutions, ACH protocols, letters of credit, and credit card offerings. This role involves interviewing applicants to gather insights into their business requirements, potential, capabilities, and income, alongside the evaluation, structuring, pricing, and negotiation of credit proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in lending policies and procedures, commercial banking services, cash management, ACH protocols, letters of credit, credit card products, and other financial offerings.
  • Conduct interviews with applicants to extract information regarding their business needs, potential, capabilities, and income.
  • Oversee the evaluation, structuring, pricing, and negotiation of credit proposals.
  • Perform credit assessments and conduct visits to businesses as necessary.
  • Make informed credit decisions on loans and terms within the lending authority and policy guidelines or provide comprehensive loan presentation summaries with recommendations to the appropriate lending authorities.
  • Support senior loan officers with larger loan transactions when required.
  • Collaborate with loan assistants to ensure the accuracy of loan documentation, secure necessary file documentation, and follow up with clients in a timely manner.
  • Monitor existing loans to ensure adherence to loan terms, appropriate loan ratings, timely management of overdue accounts, and identification of potential problem loans.
  • Engage with potential or existing clients and connect them with other departments when additional services can be provided.
  • Deliver routine banking services to clients, such as approving checks for cashing or resolving customer inquiries.
  • Manage assigned business bank accounts and address any overdraft situations that may arise.
  • Participate in community initiatives that advance the interests of Union Bank & Trust Company.
  • Comprehend and comply with all bank policies, laws, and regulations relevant to the role. Complete compliance training and adhere to internal processes and controls as required.
  • Report any compliance issues or violations of laws or regulations in accordance with established bank policies.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance as a fundamental aspect of this position.
  • Perform additional job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of lending policies and procedures, commercial banking services, cash management, and other financial products.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other banking software.
  • Loan approval authority based on experience and knowledge (adjustable according to the applicant's level).
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Environment:

This position involves sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying of up to twenty pounds. The work is primarily indoors, free from outdoor elements or hazards. Some travel may be required. This role is eligible for a hybrid work-from-home arrangement following the completion of onboarding.
