Position Summary: The Vice President of Commercial Lending possesses a comprehensive understanding of all lending policies and procedures, business deposit accounts, cash management, ACH regulations, letters of credit, and credit card services. This role is accountable for interviewing applicants to gather information that aligns with their business requirements, potential, capabilities, and revenue, alongside the critical process of evaluating, structuring, pricing, and negotiating credit proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expertise in lending policies and procedures, business deposit accounts, cash management, ACH regulations, letters of credit, credit card services, and additional banking products.
- Conduct interviews with applicants to extract pertinent information regarding their business needs, potential, capabilities, and financial performance.
- Oversee the evaluation, structuring, pricing, and negotiation of credit proposals.
- Perform credit assessments and conduct site visits as necessary.
- Make informed credit decisions on loans and terms within established lending authority and policy guidelines or provide comprehensive loan presentation summaries with recommendations to relevant lending authorities.
- Assist senior loan officers with larger loan transactions when required.
- Collaborate closely with loan assistants to ensure the production of accurate loan documentation, secure proper file management, and maintain timely follow-up with clients.
- Monitor existing loans to guarantee adherence to loan terms, appropriate loan ratings, timely management of overdue accounts, and identification of potential problem loans.
- Engage with potential or existing clients and facilitate introductions to other departments when additional services can be provided.
- Deliver routine platform services to clients, such as approving checks for cashing or resolving customer inquiries.
- Manage assigned business bank accounts and address any overdraft situations that may arise.
- Participate in community initiatives that support the interests of Union Bank & Trust Company.
- Comprehend and comply with all banking policies, laws, and regulations relevant to the role. Complete compliance training and adhere to internal processes and controls as required.
- Report any compliance issues or violations of laws or regulations in accordance with established bank policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential for this position.
- Perform additional job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of lending policies and procedures, business deposit accounts, cash management, and other banking products.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and familiar with other banking software.
- Loan approval authority based on experience and knowledge (will be adjusted according to the applicant's level).
- Valid driver's license.

Work Environment:
This position involves sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying of up to twenty pounds. The work is primarily indoors, free from outdoor elements or hazards, with some travel required.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work-from-home arrangement under the guidelines established after onboarding.
