Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Turnaround Planner/Coordinator to join our team at PEMEX Deer Park. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and coordination skills to plan and execute turnarounds and shutdown activities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable premises, approved work processes, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute turnarounds and shutdown activities, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with various disciplines, including operations, engineering, procurement, and finance, to ensure seamless execution.
  • Provide direction and leadership to contract workforce in the field during execution.
  • Develop and manage detailed work scope activities, including bill of materials and scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with plant orders, policies, and procedures.
  • Work with Turnaround Block Coordinator(s) and Event Scheduler to establish schedule logic and execute scope of work efficiently.
  • Function as an Area Field Coordinator (AFC) during execution, driving the schedule to an efficient and highly effective execution.
  • Direct field activities during Turnaround execution and serve as the first line of contact with contractors.
  • Ensure execution of environmental plan, including waste disposal, lead/asbestos abatement, and other activities.
  • Act as Quality Captain for assigned area of responsibility, responsible for all aspects of quality, including material, flange tightness, and completion status.
  • Coordinate between craft disciplines during execution.
  • Responsible for reporting status of all work assigned daily.
  • Responsible for proper turnover of all work packs and systems to which assigned during execution.
  • Manage turnaround files and records.
  • Provide a critique of turnaround activities after completion of project.
Requirements
  • Supervisory skills in managing crafts.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer focus (operations).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build consensus.
  • Computer skills, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Primavera P6, Visio, and GSAP.
  • Leadership and coaching skills.
  • Ability to create and manage change.
  • 5+ years of experience in executing turnarounds, preferably in a refinery setting.
  • 3-5 years of experience in planning turnaround work.
  • 1+ year of experience in scheduling using P6.
Working Conditions

This is a highly demanding and fast-paced role, particularly during execution. Normal work hours during planning, but 6 to 7 days per week during execution with up to 13 hours/day. Balancing and delivering results in the 5 performance areas of safety, environmental, quality, schedule, and cost. Delivering results against industry benchmarks in turnaround cost and duration. Maintaining strong relationships with the entire team during times of high energy and stress.
