Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Planner II to be part of our Project Controls Team. The role involves relevant expertise in equipment, piping, structural steel, and light civil work. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting job scope assessments
- Estimating labor hours across various disciplines
- Developing comprehensive work plans
- Creating detailed job plan packages
The successful candidate may be tasked with planning Maintenance, Turnarounds, Small Capital Projects, or a combination thereof.
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years of field planning experience in industrial maintenance, capital projects, or turnarounds
- Four (4) years of mechanical craft experience or a BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- NCCER certification or equivalent in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnarounds is advantageous
- Strong background in piping and structural work scope planning
- Ability to estimate material and labor quantities from industrial construction drawings
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Experience with planning software applications is preferred (knowledge of Turner Applications such as WinTake, QuickPlan, and Win PCS is a plus)
- Familiarity with SAP is essential
Functional Responsibilities
Responsibilities include reviewing specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and the necessary components for estimates. This involves:
- Preparing estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of the scope of work, materials, outside services, and subcontractors
- Incorporating historical data into estimates of resources and man-hours
- Estimating extras, change orders, and discovery work items
- Maintaining organized files of working documents and backup estimate figures
Compensation and Benefits

Physical Requirements
The role may require physical activities such as:
- Climbing ladders and scaffolds
- Maintaining balance on various structures
- Handling and manipulating objects and materials

- Engaging in various physical movements including standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and crouching
