Your Role

As a Mechanical Engineer within Shell's Production Team, your main objective will be to ensure continuous enhancements in asset integrity, availability, and reliability across designated Production Units. You will serve as the primary contact and authority for general-purpose mechanical equipment, both rotating and fixed, within your assigned units.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to address daily challenges.
  • Engage in Production Team meetings to remain informed about essential activities.
  • Act as a key contributor during operational disruptions.
Critical Work Processes
  • Risk Management: Oversee all mechanical equipment-related risks and opportunities, ensuring they are effectively managed.
  • Management of Change (MoC): Develop the technical foundation for designs, facilitate technical assurance, and lead reviews and close-outs.
  • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM): Drive the continuous improvement of Equipment Care Plans.
Technical Delivery
  • Formulate and execute plans for the maintenance and enhancement of mechanical equipment.
  • Utilize your technical expertise to define the scope of changes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company practices.
  • Employ work processes to evaluate the condition of mechanical equipment.
  • Guarantee safe production by reviewing shift reports and conducting alarm management reviews.
  • Support compliance inspections and implement mechanical equipment strategies.
  • Conduct proactive technical monitoring and assess results from operator rounds.
  • Drive compliance and optimization of preventive and predictive maintenance.
Problem Solving
  • Lead causal learning initiatives within the Production Team.
  • Investigate mechanical equipment failures.
  • Adopt a learner mindset to ensure effective resolutions.
  • Identify opportunities for waste reduction using LEAN and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Business Planning
  • Deliver a credible and competitive multiyear Major Maintenance plan that promotes asset integrity and profitability.
  • Ensure funding for mechanical equipment improvements is included in the broader business plan.
Project Management
  • Participate in monthly Major Maintenance Team meetings, providing updates and contributing to site-wide decisions.
Turnaround Support
  • Assist in developing work scopes and executing field tasks for mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate surveillance and pre-startup reviews for Production Units.
Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the Manufacturing Industry, particularly in Petrochemical or Refinery settings.
  • Experience in maintenance and reliability, with a solid understanding of engineering and maintenance processes.
  • Familiarity with Risk Assessment, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Management of Change, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse personnel.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively towards common objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.

The salary range for this position is competitive, with individual pay determined by factors such as experience, education, and skill level.
