Your Role

The selected individual will serve as a Mechanical Engineer within Shell's Production Team. The main objective of this position is to achieve continuous enhancements in asset integrity, availability, and reliability across designated Production Units. This role involves being the primary contact and responsible party for general mechanical equipment (both rotating and fixed) within assigned Production Units.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to address daily challenges.
  • Engage in Production Team meetings to remain informed about critical activities.
  • Act as a key contributor during operational disruptions.
Critical Work Processes
  • Risk Management: Oversee all mechanical equipment-related risks and opportunities, ensuring they are addressed effectively.
  • Management of Change (MoC): Establish technical foundations for designs, facilitate technical assurance, and lead reviews and closures of MoC.
  • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM): Lead the continuous enhancement of Equipment Care Plans.
Technical Delivery
  • Formulate and execute strategies for mechanical equipment maintenance and enhancements.
  • Utilize technical expertise to define the scope of changes to mechanical equipment, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company practices.
  • Employ work processes to evaluate the condition of mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure safe production by reviewing shift reports and conducting alarm management reviews.
  • Support compliance inspections and implement mechanical equipment strategies.
  • Conduct proactive technical monitoring, including reviewing operator rounds and analyzing vibration and oil samples.
  • Drive compliance and optimization in preventive and predictive maintenance.
Problem Solving
  • Promote a culture of Causal Learning within the Production Team.
  • Investigate mechanical equipment failures.
  • Adopt a Learner Mindset to ensure effective resolutions.
  • Identify opportunities for waste reduction in work processes using LEAN and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Business Planning
  • Deliver a credible and competitive multiyear Major Maintenance plan that enhances asset integrity and profitability.
  • Ensure funding for mechanical equipment improvements is secured within the broader business plan.
Project Management
  • Participate in monthly Major Maintenance Team meetings, providing updates on scope and plans.
Turnaround Support
  • Assist in developing work scopes and executing field tasks for mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate surveillance and pre-startup reviews for Production Units.
Qualifications:
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the Manufacturing Industry, particularly in Petrochemical or Refinery settings.
  • Experience in maintenance and reliability, with a solid understanding of engineering and maintenance processes, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Risk Assessment, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Management of Change, and Root Cause Failure Analysis is beneficial.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse personnel across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
