Position Summary:

In alignment with its commitment to innovation and excellence, Parker is in the process of developing a new 30,000 square foot gymnasium equipped with 1,100 bleacher seats, locker rooms, offices, and additional spaces, alongside a 7,350 square foot heated pool. This role is being introduced to provide specialized facilities support to the Athletics and Physical Education Department. The Athletics Maintenance Lead will report to the Director of Maintenance for the Linda Vista Campus while collaborating closely with the Director of Athletics and their team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of all athletic facilities, including fields, gyms, weight rooms, lockers, and storage areas, while coordinating preventative maintenance with external service providers.
  • Conduct regular inspections with Athletics and Physical Education Department members to ensure facilities and equipment are safe and operational.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of athletic facilities, ensuring that spaces are safe and sanitary at all times.
  • Monitor custodial services to ensure they meet cleanliness standards, particularly in weight rooms and locker facilities.
  • Prepare athletic facilities for various sports and physical education activities, ensuring organization and readiness.
  • Manage repairs and maintenance tasks, including ordering necessary supplies and performing basic repairs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues with athletic systems such as scoreboards and lighting.
  • Coordinate external maintenance and repair services as needed for athletic facilities.
  • Maintain landscaping around athletic fields and assist in preparing surfaces for different sports seasons.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director on pool maintenance and operations as required.
  • Work with Athletics and Maintenance Departments to prioritize and plan facility improvement projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; post-secondary training in a relevant trade is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably in an educational environment.
  • Basic understanding of building systems, with specific knowledge of athletic facilities being advantageous.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing and painting.
  • Experience in planning and overseeing work performed by external contractors.
  • Proficient in operating various maintenance equipment safely.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with email and basic software applications for documentation purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and procedures.
