Position Summary:

In alignment with its commitment to excellence, Francis Parker School is in the process of developing a state-of-the-art 30,000 square foot gymnasium, complete with 1,100 bleacher seats, locker rooms, offices, and additional facilities, alongside a 7,350 square foot heated swimming pool. This position is being introduced to ensure dedicated support for the Athletics and Physical Education Department as these new facilities become operational.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of all athletic facilities, including fields, gyms, weight rooms, lockers, and storage areas, while coordinating preventative maintenance with external service providers.
  • Conduct regular inspections in collaboration with the Athletics and Physical Education Department to confirm that all facilities and equipment are functional and safe.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards across all athletic venues, ensuring that areas such as the turf, gym floors, and locker rooms are well-kept.
  • Manage custodial services for athletic facilities, ensuring that cleanliness and sanitation standards are consistently met.
  • Prepare athletic facilities for various sports and physical education activities, ensuring organization and readiness at all times.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on facility items, including painting and stocking necessary supplies.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues with athletic systems, such as scoreboards and lighting.
  • Coordinate and schedule necessary maintenance or repairs with external contractors.
  • Maintain landscaping around athletic fields and ensure proper upkeep of designated areas.
  • Support the Aquatics Director with pool maintenance and operations as required.
  • Collaborate with Athletics and Maintenance Departments to prioritize and plan for facility improvement projects.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; post-secondary training in a relevant trade is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance, ideally in an educational environment.
  • Basic understanding of building systems, with specific knowledge of athletic facilities being advantageous.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing and painting.
  • Proven experience in planning and overseeing work conducted by external service providers.
  • Proficient in operating various maintenance equipment safely.
  • Physical capability to perform moderately strenuous tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with email and basic office software for documentation purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
