Department Overview

The Electric Regulatory Compliance division serves as the primary interface between our key operational regulators and our business partners within Electric Operations and Engineering. We prioritize fostering respectful and accurate communications to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

This department is responsible for conducting audits, managing compliance dialogues with regulators, implementing corrective actions, and identifying best practices through our subject matter experts for each regulatory body.

Current regulatory agencies under our purview include the California Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (OEIS), the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), among others.

We are looking for driven, knowledgeable professionals to join our team and contribute to the dynamic field of Electric Regulatory Compliance.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive program management support across various assignments, operate independently with minimal guidance on complex matters, and may lead project teams within the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting or co-assisting the Director of Electric Regulatory Compliance as a witness for the 2027 General Rate Case (GRC) regarding funding for compliance programs.
  • Developing and overseeing standardized intake, governance, monitoring, and reporting tools for teams reporting to the Director of Electric Regulatory Compliance.
  • Facilitating special case regulatory responses and testimonies in line with departmental protocols.
  • Managing metrics related to electric regulatory compliance.
  • Contributing to the development of best practices, controls, and procedures to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance.

Compensation

PG&E is committed to providing a competitive salary range for this position based on local market conditions. The actual salary will be determined by various factors including skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The estimated salary range is:

Annual Minimum: $122,000

Annual Midpoint: $158,000

Annual Maximum: $194,000

Work Location

This position is hybrid, with expectations for in-office presence at least once a week for regular operations and additional days as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizes expert knowledge in Program Management to address a variety of issues, working independently on complex challenges while potentially leading project teams.
  • Exhibits strategic leadership with both internal and cross-functional stakeholders to align with organizational objectives.
  • Creates a program implementation strategy with defined goals and milestones, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and guiding the overall program direction.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills for conducting meetings, documenting actions, and engaging with stakeholders and regulators.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with all strategic programs and partners.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of job-related experience
  • Experience in regulatory or financial sectors.

Desired:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI
  • Juris Doctor (JD) with compliance or legal experience
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Skills in Program Management
  • Background in auditing or finance
  • Ability to adapt to changing business dynamics and collaborate across diverse teams
  • Capacity to communicate findings and recommendations effectively to various management levels
  • Proven ability to lead or manage teams
  • Experience working within a regulatory framework
  • Skills in assessing and recommending solutions for projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and best practices
