Department Overview

The Electric Regulatory Compliance division serves as the primary interface with external regulatory bodies. Our mission is to ensure a respectful and precise dialogue between our key operational regulators and our business partners in Electric Operations and Engineering.

This department is responsible for conducting audits, managing regulatory compliance discussions, establishing corrective measures, and identifying best practices through our subject matter experts for each regulatory agency we cover.

Our current regulatory oversight includes agencies such as the California Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (OEIS), the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), among others.

We are looking for proactive, knowledgeable, and self-motivated individuals to join our dynamic Electric Regulatory Compliance team.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive program management support across various issues and assignments, working independently with minimal guidance on complex matters, and may lead project teams within the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting or co-assisting the Director of Electric Regulatory Compliance in the 2027 General Rate Case (GRC) for program funding related to regulatory compliance.
  • Developing and overseeing standardized intake, governance, monitoring, and reporting tools for teams reporting to the Director of Electric Regulatory Compliance.
  • Facilitating special case regulatory responses and testimony in line with departmental procedures.
  • Managing reporting metrics associated with electric regulatory compliance.
  • Contributing to the development of best practices, controls, and procedures aimed at enhancing efficiencies and ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance programs.

Compensation

PG&E is committed to providing a competitive salary range for this position. The actual salary will be determined based on various factors, including skills, education, experience, and geographic location. The estimated salary range is:

Annual Minimum: $122,000

Annual Midpoint: $158,000

Annual Maximum: $194,000

Work Location

This is a hybrid role based at the General Office. The department requires staff to be present in the office at least once a week for regular operations and as needed for business requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizes expert knowledge of Program Management to address a variety of issues and assignments, working independently with guidance only on complex challenges, and may lead project teams.
  • Exhibits strategic leadership with both internal and cross-functional stakeholders to support organizational objectives.
  • Creates a program implementation strategy with defined goals and milestones, effectively communicating objectives to key stakeholder teams to ensure deliverables align with stakeholder needs.
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills for leading meetings, documenting corrective actions, and following up with stakeholders and regulators.
  • Maintains strong collaborative relationships with all strategic programs and partners.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of job-related experience
  • Prior experience in regulatory or financial sectors.

Desired:

  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
  • Juris Doctor (JD) with compliance or legal expertise.
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Program Management
  • Background in auditing or finance
  • Ability to adapt to changing business dynamics and collaborate across diverse teams
  • Capability to communicate findings and recommendations to various management levels
  • Proven experience in managing or directing teams
  • Experience working within a regulatory framework
  • Skill in assessing and recommending solutions for assigned projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for presentations to diverse audiences
