Department Overview
The professionals within the General Counsel & Ethics, Risk and Compliance department are dedicated to ensuring the provision of safe and dependable services to our clientele. This division collaborates closely with the Electric Organization to uphold public safety concerning PG&E's electric distribution, transmission, and substation infrastructures.
Position Summary
The Principal Public Safety Program Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a robust and efficient public safety risk management initiative related to electrical assets. This role involves the development and execution of a comprehensive risk management framework, engaging with various Functional Areas to assess risks and formulate mitigation strategies. The individual will act as a specialist and intermediary between Electric and Enterprise Health & Safety functions, ensuring a unified understanding of public safety risks. Responsibilities also include preparing reports and analyses for the Functional Areas and the enterprise, as well as responding to regulatory data requests.
This position operates in a hybrid model, allowing work from a remote location as well as the designated office based on operational requirements.
Compensation Range
PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding potential compensation for this role at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including but not limited to skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is as follows:
Bay Area Minimum: $140,000
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000
California Minimum: $133,000
California Maximum: $226,000
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the comprehensive execution of the Electric Public Safety Awareness Program.
- Collaborate with various Functional Areas and Utilities to enhance communication processes and disseminate essential Public Awareness Program messages.
- Engage with Electric Operations and Enterprise Health & Safety teams to implement innovative technology solutions aimed at enhancing Public Safety Programs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the Electric Public Safety Awareness Program, particularly during public safety incidents, and provide necessary documentation for legal matters.
- Conduct safety risk assessments on the Electric System to enhance PG&E's risk understanding and minimize exposure.
- Facilitate coordination among asset family strategists, regulatory bodies, and risk management to drive effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Utilize safety and risk data to inform and challenge business decisions.
- Communicate effectively through presentations and discussions with management and staff across various departments.
- Develop and prepare presentation materials for different management levels, including Executives and Board members.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in public safety, quantitative analysis, risk management, engineering, operations, maintenance, or construction of electric systems, including three years in managing and coordinating complex business analysis and regulatory processes.
Desired:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related risk discipline.
- Professional Engineer certification.
- Cross-functional project management expertise, strategic planning, or utility operations experience.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Experience in data science or analysis.
- Certification in risk management, quality engineering, or safety engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of risk analysis and assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with oil and gas, natural gas, and/or electric operations.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels.
- Ability to foster collaboration across multiple functions and build strong working relationships.
- Capability to facilitate decision-making processes.
