Position Overview

The New Business Specialist (Senior and Lead) is responsible for executing customer-initiated tasks crucial for achieving key performance metrics. This role involves thorough research of facilities, adherence to design standards, and management of pricing, invoicing, contracting, and order processes. The specialist is expected to deliver technical solutions and process insights that streamline installations for both clients and the organization. Proactively identifies challenges and collaborates with stakeholders to fulfill customer service requests, ensuring an outstanding customer experience that fosters repeat business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Precisely designs and oversees the order management of customer-requested gas and electric services, including upgrades and relocations, employing effective planning and tracking techniques.
  • Reviews CAD drawings and prepares necessary permits, easements, and other documentation for gas and electric service projects.
  • Evaluates customer needs and expectations to suggest tailored products and solutions, promoting the transition from alternative fuels to natural gas.
  • Analyzes project specifications to formulate recommendations for contract development.
  • Utilizes independent judgment to establish contract parameters that satisfy customer needs while adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Manages customer requirements from initial inquiry through to the final delivery of gas and electric services.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service through various communication channels, including in-person, phone, and electronic correspondence.
  • Proposes solutions that align with both customer and company needs while complying with applicable standards.
  • Computes commercial hourly demand, pressure specifications, and annual fuel utilization metrics.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders through effective communication.
  • Assists in the recovery efforts during customer power outages.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to team members, serving as a subject matter expert and collaborating with colleagues to surpass performance goals.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • (0-1 years for Specialist, 1-2 years for Senior, 3-4 years for Lead) experience in gas and electric distribution work management principles.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Advanced understanding of energy products, services, and applications.
  • Proficient computing skills, particularly with Microsoft 365.
  • Demonstrates independent judgment and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a New Business Specialist.
  • Familiarity with NiSource's work management systems and customer relationship management tools.

Compensation Overview

  • Specialist: $58,000 - $81,900.00
  • Senior: $65,000 - $99,000.00
  • Lead: $77,000 - $116,200.00
