Executive Relations Director, Federal National Security and Defense

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior National Security Leader to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Global Executive Relations team, you will be responsible for driving the growth and shaping the future of cloud computing and generative AI technologies in the Federal National Security, Defense, and Civilian market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement government relations strategies to engage senior leadership across National Security, Defense, and Federal Civilian Government Agencies.
  • Work closely with AWS internal teams, including legal, compliance, public policy, and public relations and business units, to align government relations strategies with business goals.
  • Promote AWS as a champion and leader within the Federal National Security, Defense, and Civilian market, and create thought leadership opportunities for AWS executives.
  • Identify and work to remove blockers to business; develop business winning strategies and proactive messaging to promote our customers' successes in the cloud environments.
  • Help establish AWS as the leader in cloud computing and generative AI technologies for the Federal government.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Master's or Advanced Degree in Government, Security Studies, Machine Learning, International Relations, Business, Law, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of national security, intelligence, defense, and diplomatic experience.
  • Expertise in national security, defense-related and AI research methodologies, geopolitical assessments, strategy development, and project management.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Data-driven, with the ability to form measurable initiatives, and communicate their business value to leadership.
  • Excellent research project management abilities.
