Position Overview: Versar, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Security Architect with a focus on Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) solutions. This role is integral to the enhancement of the Homeland Security Enterprise Network (HSEN) and will be part of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), specifically within the IT Operations and Enterprise Engineering Division.

The selected candidate will work alongside a proficient team of network and security professionals, data center specialists, and various stakeholder groups to continuously improve the security posture of HSEN and its associated data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC-Cyber) and other relevant stakeholders to effectively design, implement, and sustain SIEM and SOAR solutions.
  • Investigate the latest advancements in SIEM and SOAR technologies and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Enhance the architecture of SIEM and SOAR for greater operational efficiency.
  • Develop mechanisms for threat detection and automate incident response workflows.
  • Oversee SIEM applications to ensure comprehensive data collection from diverse security devices.
  • Document and maintain the Swimlane environment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity, particularly within NOC/SOC environments and IT services.
  • Proven expertise in SIEM and SOAR tools, especially with Swimlane and Splunk.
  • Adept at navigating complex and evolving network infrastructures.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS and Azure.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a DHS Entry on Duty (EOD).

Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required; relevant professional experience may be considered as a substitute.

  • CompTIA Security+
  • Splunk Certification
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • CCNP Security
  • CCIE Security

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Splunk and Swimlane.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
