Compensation for the Medical Scheduler

  • The hourly wage for this role is $20.00.
  • Full-time employees are eligible for benefits after a probationary period.

Key Highlights of the Role

  • This is a contract position with the potential for permanent employment based on attendance, performance, and organizational needs.
  • Immediate availability for interviews and commencement of work is required.
  • The Scheduler will manage patient appointments and testing efficiently, responding to incoming calls and directing them appropriately.
  • This role acts as a liaison between patients and medical staff, with responsibilities that may include training new employees.
  • Adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, is essential.

Responsibilities of the Medical Scheduler

  • Respond to all incoming calls, assess the needs of callers, and direct them to the correct personnel.
  • Page clinic staff as necessary and communicate messages promptly and accurately.
  • Schedule new and returning patient appointments in the system, following physician and office protocols.
  • Manage appointment cancellations and rescheduling due to physician availability, informing relevant clinic staff.
  • Maintain the physician's schedule, including on-call duties, vacations, and meetings.
  • Coordinate outpatient appointments and hospital admissions as requested, ensuring necessary pre-certifications are obtained.
  • Handle new patient referrals, gather essential information, assign patient account numbers, and schedule appointments accordingly.

Requirements for the Medical Scheduler

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Consistent attendance is mandatory during the initial probationary period.
  • A minimum of one to three years of scheduling or related experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Experience in Chemotherapy and/or Oncology is highly desirable but not mandatory.
