Overview:
The Malú and Carlos Alvarez Center in Transplantation, Hepatobiliary Surgery, and Innovation is seeking a qualified abdominal organ transplant specialist to join our esteemed faculty. This role is available at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform living donor liver transplants, including both donor and recipient procedures.
- Engage in hepatic/biliary and pancreatic surgical practices, with a focus on robotic surgery.
- Participate in kidney transplantation and laparoscopic kidney donor surgeries.
- Contribute to pediatric transplant cases.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess:
- OPTN/UNOS Certification for primary kidney and liver transplant surgeon.
- Board Certification by the American Board of Surgery or equivalent.
- Completion of a transplant surgery fellowship at an ASTS accredited program.
- Texas medical licensure prior to employment commencement.
- Certification in hepatic/biliary and pancreatic surgery is preferred.
Academic and Research Focus:
We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to clinical research, education, and program development. The academic appointment will be within the Department of Surgery, with full allocation to the Transplant Center.
