Key Responsibilities

UMortgage is seeking enthusiastic, professional, and highly organized Loan Specialists to enhance our Loan Operations team. The Loan Specialist position is a full-time, detail-oriented role centered on pipeline and file management. Unlike the Loan Officer (LO) role, which emphasizes outbound sales and partner engagement, the Loan Specialist is tailored for those who excel in process management and have a high capacity for loan processing. By collaborating with the LO counterpart for prospecting and relationship development, the Loan Specialist can efficiently manage a significant volume of loans internally.

Essential Duties:

  • Guide potential borrowers through various mortgage products, assisting them in identifying the most suitable options for their needs.
  • Gather and assess borrower financial documentation required for submission to the UMortgage Operations team.
  • Analyze borrower loan applications, credit histories, and financial information to determine eligibility.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-approval discussions with prospective borrowers.
  • Follow up with pre-approved borrowers to monitor their home shopping progress.
  • Submit complete loan applications along with all necessary documentation to the UMortgage Operations team.
  • Register and secure loan files with various lenders and provide relevant disclosures according to the loan program.
  • Manage and follow up on all necessary third-party orders (Appraisal, Title, HOI).
  • Submit TBD underwrites as required and collaborate with lenders to navigate scenarios.
  • Deliver consistent, real-time updates and proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including borrowers, referral partners, Loan Originators, and UMortgage Operations team members.
  • Meet or exceed our service level agreements (SLA) for turnaround times with all clients.
  • Embrace and embody our company's core values and consumer-centric approach to deliver outstanding customer service throughout the loan process.
  • Maintain comprehensive and current knowledge of lenders, products, guidelines, and processes.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed based on business requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Active NMLS license.
  • A minimum of 50 units completed in the past year as a Processor, Loan Originator Assistant, or primary Loan Originator on file.
  • Availability for weekends and after-hours work.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and structuring loan files.
  • Exceptional customer service, listening, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with clients and referral partners.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and accountable.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up capabilities.
