Key Responsibilities

UMortgage is seeking enthusiastic, professional, and highly organized Mortgage Loan Consultants to enhance our Loan Operations team. This role is a full-time, detail-oriented position focused on pipeline and file management. Unlike the Loan Officer (LO) role, which is characterized by outbound sales efforts and partner engagement, the Mortgage Loan Consultant is tailored for the process-driven, high-capacity loan expert. By depending on the LO counterpart for prospecting and relationship cultivation, the Mortgage Loan Consultant can efficiently manage numerous loans monthly from an internal perspective.

It is essential to note that Mortgage Loan Consultants are not merely elevated Loan Originator Assistants (LOAs). While some responsibilities may overlap with those of an LOA, the Mortgage Loan Consultant role carries greater significance, accountability, and ownership. They are expected to be the guardians of the loan process, the mortgage advisors, and the sales leaders within the division, focusing not only on closing deals but also on securing them.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Educating potential borrowers on various mortgage options and guiding them in selecting the most suitable choices for their needs.
  • Gathering and reviewing borrower financial documentation necessary for submission to the UMortgage Operations team.
  • Assessing borrower loan applications, credit histories, and financial data to determine eligibility.
  • Conducting comprehensive pre-approval discussions with prospective borrowers.
  • Following up with pre-approved borrowers to monitor their home search progress.
  • Submitting complete loan applications and all required documentation to the UMortgage Operations team.
  • Registering and locking loan files with different lenders and providing relevant disclosures based on the loan program.
  • Managing and following up on all necessary third-party orders (Appraisal, Title, HOI).
  • Submitting TBD underwrites as required and collaborating with lenders to navigate scenarios.
  • Providing consistent, real-time updates and proactively communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including borrowers, referral partners, Loan Originators, and UMortgage Operations team members.
  • Meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLA) for turnaround times with all clients.
  • Embodying our company's core values and client-centric model to ensure outstanding customer service throughout the loan process.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of lenders, products, guidelines, and processes.
  • Additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications Required:

  • Active NMLS license.
  • A minimum of 50 units completed in the past year as a Processor, Loan Originator Assistant, or primary Loan Originator.
  • Availability for weekends and after-hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and structuring loan files.
  • Exceptional customer service, listening, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and referral partners.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and accountable.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational and follow-up skills.
