Job Overview

The Cahaba Access Assistant plays a crucial role in the operational framework of Cahaba Medical Care Foundation. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is integral in the standardization of processes related to health information management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately documenting patient interactions within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Managing patient documentation, including necessary authorizations and medical supply requests.
  • Responding to patient inquiries and coordinating appointment schedules.
  • Completing assigned tasks within the EMR system efficiently.
  • Facilitating referrals and organizing specialist appointments and diagnostic tests.
  • Verifying insurance coverage prior to scheduling specialist consultations.
  • Securing authorizations for imaging services and other medical procedures.
  • Gathering benefit coverage information and preparing diagnostic orders.
  • Informing patients about their scheduled appointments.
  • Exhibiting strong organizational skills while managing medical records.
  • Supporting the Nurse Manager with clinical responsibilities and record-keeping.
  • Executing additional assigned duties as required.
