CFO Job Description

Background: Cahaba Medical Care Foundation is a Federally Qualified Health Center with multiple sites in Alabama providing medical, pharmacy, dental, and behavioral health services to underserved communities.

Purpose: Seeking a seasoned financial leader to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Manage and oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Coordinate and lead audit activities to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Optimize cash flow and revenue cycle management to improve financial performance.
  • Monitor and analyze grant activity to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HR to manage payroll and benefits administration.
  • Review and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to senior leadership and the Board.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to inform business decisions.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the budgeting process to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor performance against budgets and make adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and maintain profitability models to optimize financial performance.

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Evaluate financial implications of business decisions and provide recommendations.
  • Assess organizational performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Guide capital allocation decisions to optimize financial performance.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and materials to support senior leadership and the Board.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Oversee compliance requirements to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to regulatory bodies.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks to protect organizational assets.
  • Implement internal control systems to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.

Board Relations and Reporting:

  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Report financial performance to the Board and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead the Finance Committee to ensure effective financial decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Team Management:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to finance team members to ensure professional development and growth.
  • Share performance feedback and coaching to improve team performance.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive business growth and profitability.

Qualifications: The CFO will be a seasoned leader with broad finance experience and expertise in GAAP compliance, revenue cycle management, and financial analysis.
