Position Overview:

Sentry is seeking a knowledgeable claims professional to manage both litigated and non-litigated claims that involve intricate coverage, liability, and damage considerations. This role will involve engaging in settlement discussions and mediations, while also overseeing litigation processes such as depositions, inspections, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of claims, assessing coverage, liability, and damage settlements.
  • Negotiate settlements for bodily injury and property damage claims with claimants and their legal representatives.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of litigated and non-litigated claims from initiation to resolution.
  • Analyze coverage documents and contracts to interpret relevant coverage and effectively communicate findings to clients.
  • Evaluate facts and develop strategies to resolve claims related to bodily injury and property damage.
  • Review medical records to assess the value of bodily injury claims.
  • Exercise independent judgment within established authority limits and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all decisions, communications, reports, and discussions.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in claims handling.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance policies, claims payment processes, and regulatory requirements, along with familiarity with medical and legal terminology.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate claims and make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in reviewing and interpreting complex documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Competence in computer and mathematical skills is advantageous.
