Position Overview:

Sentry is seeking a highly skilled claims professional to manage both litigated and non-litigated claims that involve intricate coverage, liability, and damage considerations. This role includes engaging in settlement discussions and mediations, as well as closely monitoring litigation processes such as depositions, inspections, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of new claims promptly.
  • Analyze coverage forms and contracts to interpret applicable coverage and effectively communicate findings to clients.
  • Assess facts and formulate plans to resolve claims efficiently.
  • Review medical records to ascertain the value of bodily injury claims.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all decisions, correspondence, reports, and discussions.
  • Negotiate settlements for bodily injury and property damage claims with claimants and their legal representatives.
  • Assign suitable defense counsel and oversee litigation activities as necessary.
  • Manage expenses through diligent oversight of litigation processes.
  • Authorize claim payments within designated authority limits.
  • Provide overviews of specific claims to clients and company personnel as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience managing a caseload of litigated claims is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, claim payment procedures, and regulations, as well as knowledge of medical and legal terminology, is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate claims and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents and details.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Proficient computer and mathematical skills are beneficial.
