Position Overview:

Sentry is seeking a seasoned claims professional to manage both litigated and non-litigated claims that involve intricate coverage, liability, and damage considerations. This role entails engaging in settlement discussions and mediations, while also closely monitoring litigation processes such as depositions, inspections, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of new claims.
  • Analyze coverage forms and contracts to interpret applicable coverage and communicate findings effectively to clients.
  • Assess facts and develop strategic plans for claim resolution.
  • Review medical records to ascertain the value of bodily injury claims.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all decisions, correspondence, reports, and discussions.
  • Negotiate settlements for bodily injury and property damage claims with claimants and their legal representatives.
  • Assign and oversee appropriate defense counsel, ensuring litigation activities are monitored and approved as necessary.
  • Manage expenses through diligent oversight of litigation activities.
  • Authorize claim payments within established authority limits.
  • Provide summaries of specific claims to clients and company personnel as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience in independently managing a caseload of litigated claims is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage, claims payment processes, and relevant regulations is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate claims and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents and information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Proficient computer and mathematical skills are beneficial.
