Position Overview:

Sentry is seeking a seasoned claims professional to manage both litigated and non-litigated claims that involve intricate coverage, liability, and damage considerations. In this role, you will engage in settlement discussions and mediations, while closely monitoring litigation processes such as depositions, inspections, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of claims, ensuring prompt evaluation of coverage, liability determination, and damage settlement.
  • Negotiate settlements for bodily injury and property damage claims, collaborating with claimants and their legal representatives.
  • Oversee a diverse caseload of litigated and non-litigated claims from initiation to resolution.
  • Analyze coverage documents and contracts to interpret applicable coverage, effectively communicating findings to clients.
  • Assess facts and develop strategic plans to resolve claims related to bodily injury and property damage.
  • Review medical records to ascertain the value of bodily injury claims.
  • Utilize sound judgment within established authority limits and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all decisions, correspondence, reports, and discussions related to claims.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in claims handling.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance policies, claims payment processes, regulatory standards, and familiarity with medical and legal terminology.
  • Strong analytical skills to review claims, exercise judgment, and make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in interpreting complex documents and details.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient computer and mathematical skills are advantageous.
