Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in administering human resources policies and programs at Milwaukee Film. This position is responsible for promoting equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive Human Resources support to colleagues, understand and support the accomplishment of the organization's goals, and build strong working relationships with all colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Selection
    • Leads the recruiting, selection, and hiring process, ensuring the successful selection and onboarding of colleagues.
  • Employee Relations
    • Addresses basic employee relations issues and escalates complex matters to the fractional CFO or Executive Director as appropriate.
    • Provides input into and assists in executing DEI initiatives to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace culture.
  • Onboarding and Training
    • Coordinates new employee onboarding.
    • Coordinates employee training and development opportunities.
  • Benefits and Leave Administration
    • Administers benefits and leave administration programs, including short-term disability, workers' compensation, FMLA, and personal leaves.
    • Assists employees in navigating the employee benefit service providers.
  • HR Systems and Data
    • Ensures data integrity in the BambooHR system.
    • Maintains confidential employee data in electronic and paper formats.
  • Employee Handbook and Compliance
    • Keeps the employee handbook updated.
    • Maintains knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and ensures compliance.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Interacts with the Human Resources Committee of the Board of Directors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of Human Resources experience, nonprofit experience a bonus.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office Suite, including Sharepoint, and Google Workspaces.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
  • Cultural competence and commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and DEI initiatives.
