Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Service Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the effective management of tasks conducted within the service department. This includes organizing, prioritizing, and supervising all activities within designated areas of responsibility. A key aspect of this role is to guarantee the utmost satisfaction of both internal and external clients while consistently working towards achieving corporate objectives. The individual in this position is accountable for meeting the operational targets of the Service Department, which encompasses the efficient management and development of personnel, revenue generation, profit maximization, cost management, adherence to safety regulations, and fostering collaboration with other service managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and values.

The incumbent is expected to exemplify the following practices daily: 1) Align with the company’s mission and core values; 2) Collaborate with essential internal and external partners; 3) Engage in continuous personal and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, develop, assess, and inspire effective teamwork to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Promote and reinforce the consistent application of the company's leadership principles to ensure alignment with our vision and values.
  • Provide necessary support and guidance through collaborative problem-solving with all personnel to maintain a strategic focus on stability, employee satisfaction, and growth.
  • Oversee the scheduling and repair of customer-owned equipment to enhance revenue and customer awareness of our capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain an efficient and professional work order system to ensure all quoting, invoicing, monitoring, and reporting are conducted in a manner that enhances the company’s image and profitability.
  • Plan, monitor, and control service department operations to ensure alignment with the company’s mission and to achieve service objectives.
  • Manage and optimize physical and capital resources to support the delivery of outstanding customer service.
  • Communicate and enforce service department policies to maintain consistency within the service division.
  • Promote and monitor safe work practices to minimize workplace hazards and accidents.
  • Complete additional projects as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and company standards.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in service management, particularly in the air compressor sector.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment, including their design, usage, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships across various departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and effectively interact with employees and management.
  • Analytical skills to interpret and resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to motivate and evaluate team performance to achieve specific business goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the air compressor industry and management.
  • Five years of experience in coaching and developing personnel.

Supervisory Duties: Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, coaching, performance appraisal, and addressing employee concerns.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, including overnight stays.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires prolonged periods of standing or sitting, with occasional movement within the office.
  • Frequent communication with others is essential.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and auditory signals.
  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced work environment with potential for unscheduled interruptions.
  • Regular indoor work around moving mechanical parts, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Noise levels may be high at times.
  • Exposure to chemicals, steam, and high-pressure equipment may occur.
