The Division of Immunology and Rheumatology within the Department of Medicine is in search of a Finance Associate who will play a vital role in the finance team, delivering essential financial and accounting assistance for the Division and its faculty. This dynamic opportunity in a continually expanding Division demands sound judgement, initiative, and follow-through. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for engaging with a diverse academic and medical community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, process, gather, and compile financial transactions and documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Examine transactions, supporting documents, journal entries, etc., for precision, consistency, authorizations, and adherence to regulations. Monitor transactions in accounting systems for clearing and outstanding items.
  • Compile, maintain, and review data and daily reports for accuracy, generating standardized financial reports.
  • Address transactional inquiries and escalate broader issues as necessary.
  • Respond to inquiries from client groups regarding transactions.
  • May oversee p-card administration, processing travel cards, and managing reimbursements.
  • May establish accounts in financial systems and prepare invoices.
  • Engage in new initiatives as required, including user testing.
  • Maintain accounting and finance departmental files, desktop procedures, and process documents for assigned responsibilities, ensuring compliance with university policies and federal regulations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and comprehend financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for report generation is preferred.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and efficiency.
  • A degree in Business or Finance is preferred.

Education & Experience (Required):

  • High School diploma or equivalent with two years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to utilize computerized office applications and accounting systems.
  • Capacity to communicate information clearly and effectively to internal audiences and client groups.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork, grasp lightly, and perform fine manipulation, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 10 pounds or less.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop, and squat.
  • Rarely stand, walk, reach, or work above shoulder level and use a telephone.

Working Conditions:

  • May require extended hours during peak business cycles.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.04 to $33.17 per hour.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.

At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
