Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Assess transactions, supporting documents, journal entries, etc., for accuracy, consistency, authorizations, and compliance. Monitor transactions in accounting systems for resolution of outstanding items.
  • Compile, maintain, and review data and daily reports for precision. Generate standardized financial reports.
  • Address transactional inquiries and escalate broader issues as necessary.
  • Respond to transactional inquiries from client groups.
  • May oversee p-card administration, processing, travel cards, and reimbursements.
  • May set up accounts in financial systems and prepare invoices.
  • Engage in new initiatives as required, including user testing.
  • Maintain accounting/finance departmental files and desktop procedures, ensuring compliance with university policies and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and comprehend finance regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to create necessary reports is preferred.
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and efficiency.
  • A degree in Business or Finance is preferred.

Education & Experience (Required):

  • High School diploma or equivalent with two years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to utilize computerized office applications and accounting systems.
  • Capacity to communicate information clearly and effectively to internal audiences and client groups.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork, and perform light lifting of objects weighing 10 pounds or less.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop, and squat.
  • Rarely stand, walk, reach, or work above shoulder level.

Working Conditions:

  • May require extended hours during peak business cycles.

Compensation: The expected pay range for this position is $24.04 to $33.17 per hour, reflecting the university's good faith estimate of compensation based on various factors.

Note: Base pay is just one component of the comprehensive rewards package offered by the university.
