Position Overview:

As a key member of the Ripken Baseball team, the Event Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Director of Operations. This role is essential in overseeing the planning and execution of baseball introductory and player development events. The focus will be on meticulous logistical coordination and operational management of the Ripken Baseball calendar, collaborating closely with the entire Operations department. Success in this position will be measured by effective coach recruitment and development, as well as the overall success of events from inception to completion, all while adhering to budgetary constraints. Continuous innovation in event concepts and execution is expected. Travel is a fundamental aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate, and execute baseball introductory and player development events.
  • Ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines for all events.
  • Oversee the inventory management of equipment and gear, including nationwide staff inventory.
  • Supervise all scouting, evaluation, reporting, and data management for players involved with Ripken Baseball.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop event curricula and itineraries for player development.
  • Establish Google sites for Ripken Baseball events.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor new staff across the country for introductory and player development events.
  • Coordinate on-site content capture for social media in partnership with the Marketing Director.
  • Assist with tournament operations as needed.
  • Complete post-event reports for the finance team.
  • Contribute to new initiatives based on organizational needs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a sports-related or business-related field such as Sports Marketing, Management, or Instruction.
  • 1-2 years of experience in sports business operations or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of youth baseball and tournament operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude towards learning and development.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational abilities.
  • Outstanding customer service skills to address the needs of parents and coaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness and capability to supervise others.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as required.

Preferred:

  • Experience in collegiate or professional baseball and/or softball.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a professional setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of baseball/softball and tournament operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in organizing youth sporting events.
  • Willingness to undertake special projects based on company needs.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work extended hours as dictated by business demands.
  • Physical capability to perform all tasks associated with the role.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds at least 20% of the time.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and dust/particles.
  • Willingness to travel to various events.
