Position Overview

Assurant is seeking a dedicated Financial Reporting Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in overseeing all aspects of financial documentation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

The Financial Reporting Supervisor will:
  • Develop and uphold accounting standards, practices, and procedures to guarantee precise and prompt financial statements.
  • Lead and mentor a team, ensuring effective allocation and completion of tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage multiple accounting functions, including financial reporting, preparation of audit materials, and support for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Engage with senior management and product line leaders, necessitating strong written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Duties

In this role, you will:
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the financial reporting structure and general ledger.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
  • Collaborate with finance department leaders to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Oversee daily operations of the financial reporting team.
  • Assign projects and guide staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Analyze departmental workflows to enhance efficiency while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Advise team members on complex reporting transactions.
  • Work closely with the AVP to facilitate smooth quarterly and year-end audits.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new procedures to improve departmental workflows.
  • Establish and enforce sound accounting methods and principles in line with relevant regulations.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of team members.
  • Address personnel issues, including conflicts and performance challenges.
  • Set annual goals for direct reports and monitor their professional development.
  • Prepare materials for internal and external audits.
  • Stay updated on industry knowledge through educational opportunities and professional networks.
  • Ensure adherence to internal control policies in a SOX-compliant environment.
  • Safeguard the organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • A valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Experience in the insurance sector.
  • Five to seven years of supervisory experience in financial reporting or general ledger management.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $82,000 and $137,400, reflecting a variety of compensation factors, including candidate experience and background.
