Position Overview:

As part of the Quality and Safety division, Data and Analytics (DnA) aims to empower NYC Health + Hospitals and its partners with data-driven insights, digital tools, and AI capabilities to enhance quality and performance, support enterprise operations, and improve patient outcomes. The DnA initiative optimizes data governance frameworks and leverages data to facilitate informed decision-making and innovation across the system.

Reporting to the Chief Data Officer (CDO), the AVP will work closely with senior DnA leadership to establish organizational objectives related to data and AI. This role will involve conducting business case analyses and overseeing strategic planning, vendor selection, and the product development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business goals and maximizing value for H+H. Additionally, the AVP will focus on operational excellence, refining workflows, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Formulate and implement the organization's vision and strategy for Data and Analytics, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify opportunities for data-driven innovation and competitive differentiation.

Operational Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for DnA operations, including finance, human resources, administration, and project management.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor operational performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Product & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of data and AI products and services, from conception to launch and beyond.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product specifications, prioritize features, and drive product development.
  • Manage the entire DnA portfolio, assessing the performance of existing products and making recommendations for enhancements or discontinuations to optimize services.

Team Leadership

  • Evaluate the current organizational structure and propose recommendations for sustainable long-term improvements.
  • Implement comprehensive training programs to enhance the skills of the existing workforce in advanced data and AI knowledge, while also recruiting new product managers to strengthen the team.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Partnership and Collaboration

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with technology vendors, academic institutions, and industry organizations to drive innovation and stay updated on best practices in data and AI.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including IT, legal, and compliance teams to ensure successful integration of data and AI solutions across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A Master's degree in hospital administration, healthcare planning, business administration, public administration, or a related field, along with seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, or related functions; or

2. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, or related functions; or

3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required.

Department Preferences:

  • 10+ years of experience in data and/or information technology.
  • 10+ years of experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in senior leadership roles within analytics and/or healthcare, demonstrating strategic vision and impactful decision-making.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Demonstrated success in data and AI strategy, product management, and team leadership.
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing data and AI solutions in a corporate or enterprise context.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and collaborating with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to drive change, influence stakeholders, and advocate for data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
