Position Overview:


The Senior Medical Equipment Strategist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive medical equipment planning services tailored for architectural design and construction projects, both standard and specialized. This position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to produce detailed equipment planning documentation for various healthcare environments, ensuring alignment with technical and environmental specifications in support of contractual obligations.

Assists in the budget formulation and cost analysis by leveraging extensive knowledge of budget management to create medical equipment budgets for capital projects; collaborates with the team to review equipment costs, providing estimates throughout the project lifecycle and managing budgetary concerns with minimal oversight.


Conducts Equipment Evaluations:

Participates in comparative studies of medical equipment by monitoring emerging technologies, evaluating new healthcare-related innovations, and sharing relevant information within the organization. Applies standard functional analysis processes to assess equipment in relation to operational needs and facility requirements; independently organizes and schedules work according to defined priorities.

Acts as a representative of the organization by maintaining effective communication within the organization and with external contacts; proactively establishes a communication network for complex projects among team members, including architects, contractors, clinicians, and equipment vendors.

Provides medical equipment planning support for national capital projects by developing comprehensive equipment planning documents for new and existing healthcare environments; utilizes in-depth knowledge of medical equipment planning to assist with technical and environmental specifications with minimal supervision. Reviews contract documents and designs to identify conflicts and avoid delays in construction and clinical functionality, coordinating with vendors on-site to ensure proper equipment placement.


Equipment Specification:

Independently assesses, identifies, and recommends equipment for various projects related to architectural design and construction for new medical facilities, major renovations, and expansions. Prepares procurement lists and monitors procurement processes independently, ensuring compliance with guidelines while collaborating with external architectural consultants and contractors to provide accurate equipment specifications.

Engages in project management responsibilities by utilizing advanced project management techniques to consult with user groups and strategic partners, performing functional analyses of equipment in relation to operational needs. Leverages a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder management to balance the needs of various internal groups, ensuring optimal medical equipment utilization.


Qualifications:


Associate's degree in medical, healthcare, architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field, along with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare, clinical engineering, business, biomedical, IT, architectural, or construction environments; or a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in a similar field.
