Oakland, California, United States Pivotal Talent Search Full time

We are looking for a Lead Financial Strategist in Renewable Energy to join a prestigious organization focused on sustainable energy solutions. This pivotal role demands a robust background in structured finance, project financing, or capital markets, particularly within the renewable energy landscape. As a key member of the Structured Finance Team, you will engage with various internal leaders to identify, structure, negotiate, finalize, and oversee financial transactions. The deals will utilize balance sheet resources and align with the organization’s financial objectives. The company is uniquely equipped to devise innovative financial solutions, which may encompass substantial bond issuances for off-balance-sheet renewable energy prepayment initiatives, inventive deal frameworks for public-facing electric vehicle charging services, behind-the-meter solar and storage agreements through municipal resilience initiatives, financing options for transportation electrification, and municipal programs, among others. Transactions may leverage IRA benefits, scalable Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), and strategies aimed at expediting decarbonization while ensuring equitable access to clean energy services.

The Lead Financial Strategist in Renewable Energy will be responsible for:

  • Leading or participating in Structured Finance transactions by providing insights on potential deals and financing structures, managing counterparty relationships, drafting term sheets, negotiating terms, resolving issues, and preparing reports.
  • Applying a commercial viewpoint during deal negotiations and coordinating with legal advisors and team members.
  • Collaborating closely with the program development team on product offerings.
  • Working cross-functionally to manage deals after closing.
  • Identifying, planning, and developing new initiatives to enhance organizational value.
  • Executing other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

To excel in this position, you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with at least 4 years in energy finance or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in structured finance, project finance, capital markets, and/or lending.
  • A solid foundation in finance, investment, and deal structuring/negotiation.
  • Proficiency in Excel and the ability to create financial models.
  • Expertise in project finance within the clean energy sector.
  • A hands-on approach with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in leading and influencing teams.
