  • The Data & Analytics Team within IT focuses on collaborating with various business units (e.g., Electric Operations, Gas Operations) to develop user-friendly data platforms and products for diverse user groups (e.g., asset strategists, inspectors, emergency operations).

    • Implementing leading-edge rapid delivery methods for data solutions and enabling self-service capabilities for skilled analysts and data scientists.
    • Streamlining, enhancing, and standardizing processes to foster data-driven decision-making and facilitate the digital transformation of the utility sector.
    • Quickly delivering back-end solutions for a variety of applications.

Position Summary:
  • We are seeking a Senior Technical Lead to join our dynamic and expanding team.
  • Your main responsibility will be to offer technical guidance and mentorship across our data platform and product engineering teams.
  • You will lead discussions on technical feasibility for our products while collaborating with other technical leaders, product owners, and development leads.
  • Your role will involve identifying the limits of our platforms, providing solutions for technical challenges, and facilitating discussions within IT and various business units.
  • As an integral member of a motivated group of engineers, product teams, and technical analysts, you will contribute to innovative, forward-thinking projects that can transform the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop outstanding big data products within a collaborative team environment where culture is key to success.
  • Guide and mentor the development team through hands-on leadership.
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments while working with the Product Owner and Design team to inform feature development and provide technical expertise.
  • Identify and address non-functional application requirements, managing technical debt effectively.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in data engineering and data platforms.
  • Adapt technical solutions to integrate new technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize complex applications on actual devices.
  • Clearly communicate the vision and architecture to team members.
  • Maintain a productive environment for development teams.
  • Champion a culture of quality within the team.
  • Collaborate with external teams, particularly security, to design, implement, and support scalable mobile solutions.
  • Create top-tier cloud-native data products using AWS.
  • Effectively convey solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adhere to an agile development methodology.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of experience in IT, focusing on application development and architecture, including 7 years of project implementation experience and hands-on experience in developing data products.
  • Expertise in solution architecture principles, processes, concepts, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) applied in technology-supported business process implementations.
  • Experience in process design, information modeling, or system solution architecture development, particularly in areas such as Cloud Architecture, Data Management, Security, Microservices, or Infrastructure technologies.
  • Operational support experience for applications, systems, or infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to direct design and engineering teams.
  • Experience mentoring architects and technical leads.
  • 5 years of experience creating solution architectures for complex data platforms and products.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with various technologies and platforms, including ERP system integrations (e.g., SAP) and Cloud technologies (e.g., AWS).
  • Solid understanding of architecture best practices and enterprise-scale solution development.
  • Diverse technical background with an Enterprise System Solution mindset.
  • Able to oversee rapid prototyping/POC efforts and large-scale enterprise-wide rollout planning.
  • Experience collaborating with technology and business partners to develop secure and scalable solutions.
  • Experience as an Agile/Technical Lead in an Agile environment.
  • Experience developing solutions for data-driven applications.
  • GIS experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or ESRI is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence at the Director level.
  • Capable of fostering trust and rapport to create an effective workplace.
