Position Overview:


The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in the operational framework of Rebuilding Together, focusing on enhancing community outreach and program effectiveness. This position involves direct interaction with low-income homeowners, as well as collaboration with various stakeholders, including volunteers, corporate partners, municipal agencies, and other nonprofit organizations.

This role is ideal for individuals seeking to cultivate both technical and interpersonal skills applicable across nonprofit, public, or private sectors.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will thrive in a dynamic environment, supporting the organization's mission by achieving specific objectives through tasks such as conducting outreach to homeowners, mobilizing community volunteers, organizing project logistics, and analyzing program data.

This position is essential to our small team, contributing to the enhancement of our service capacity, efficiency, and quality.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Manage the program application process for homeowners, which includes:

  • Responding to inquiries via phone, assisting potential participants with application completion, processing applications, conducting site assessments, and preparing home evaluation reports.


2. Collaborate with team members to assign volunteer groups to suitable rebuilding projects, secure contractors, schedule projects, and develop timelines. This includes:

  • Coordinating project logistics and managing homeowner communications throughout the planning and rebuilding phases.


3. Oversee the intake process for program volunteers, evaluating their skills and interests to effectively engage them. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing training and support to ensure volunteers are well-prepared and feel valued for their contributions.


4. Organize the procurement and delivery of essential project supplies, including:

  • Tools, materials, personal protective equipment, and refreshments.


5. Maintain an inventory system for program resources, ensuring efficient use and repurposing of materials, as well as managing in-kind donations.


6. Develop and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system for program services, including:

  • Tracking homeowner and project data, evaluating program outcomes, and generating reports on progress toward objectives.


7. Create and facilitate training sessions and resources on healthy housing for both homeowners and volunteers, promoting community engagement through outreach strategies.


8. Represent Rebuilding Together at community events and meetings, identifying collaboration opportunities to address community needs and enhance service delivery.


9. Support the outreach strategy aimed at increasing awareness of our initiatives among target populations, which includes:

  • Participating in civic and business meetings, creating outreach materials, and contributing content for various communication channels.

Qualifications:


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill position responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to build relationships with program participants.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients and volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technology systems.
  • Positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong sense of accountability and integrity.


Preferred:

  • Experience in construction, home repair, or housing-related issues.
  • Comfort with public speaking and training.
  • Previous volunteer management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with database management or data analysis tools.
