Community Engagement Associate - COVER LETTER REQUIRED TO APPLY


Locust Community Solutions is seeking experienced, highly motivated community engagement associates, preferably with experience in management, third party outreach, event planning, or community organizing to be part of a contract for a corporate client in the healthcare space.


Ideal candidates are hard-working and detailed oriented with an ability to build relationships with local communities and work with locally-based community organizations. All candidates must be able to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.


The work will focus on connecting community members with healthcare services and resources in markets across the United States. Community associates will be expected to travel throughout the U.S. based on the campaign’s needs to support a program consisting of event planning and execution, & community outreach and engagement. This includes relationship-building with community-based organizations, working with partners on creative strategies to reach local communities and provide information about healthcare resources.


The Community Engagement Associate will play an essential role in a broader campaign and will be expected to adapt to adjustments in expectations and resourcefully work to overcome challenges.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports program manager with administrative duties for including but not limited to planning and creating schedules, leading and tracking communication with organizations, creating informational materials related to event and program logistics
  • Fosters positive relations, and acts as an advocate for the organization with all community stakeholders
  • Works collaboratively with all other team members to ensure quality, consistency, and coordination of all work and programming
  • Plan and execute creative and informational events and meetings in local communities
  • Develop partnerships – and build on existing relationships - with local businesses, nonprofits, and organizations to help community members understand healthcare options and resources in their community
  • Coordinate logistics including timing, location, and delivery of event materials for community events
  • Meet reporting deadlines
  • Supporting ongoing community assessment work


Skills or Qualifications:

  • Experience in third-party outreach
  • Experience in management, event planning, customer service, sales, political or community organizing
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong writing skills to support written work that accompanies outreach and
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well and communicate effectively in writing and verbally with diverse audiences
  • Comfort with working independently – as well as part of a team
  • Good computer skills and demonstrate ability to track/report progress
  • Requires travel to markets identified as part of the ongoing engagement work
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends to support community engagement work

Preference for candidates based in the Washington D.C. metro area and will be for a one-year contract. COVER LETTER REQUIRED TO APPLY


*Salary range: $55k-75k per year*


Work Location: Washington D.C. and travel to other U.S. cities
