Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator

Position Overview: The Mayor's Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS) is dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by residents of the District of Columbia through effective collaboration with various city agencies. We are seeking a proactive individual with a deep understanding of the District's neighborhoods, particularly Ward 3, to enhance community outreach and relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Coordination: Develop and maintain a systematic approach to coordinating services among city agencies, ensuring effective responses to community needs.
  • Issue Response: Address critical incidents and concerns within the assigned Ward, including during non-standard hours.
  • System Improvement: Analyze current service delivery systems and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data to identify priorities and inform the development of work plans aimed at resolving community issues.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Facilitate communication and cooperation among various District and Federal agencies to address neighborhood concerns.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with fellow specialists to devise strategies for effective community engagement and outreach.
  • Partnership Development: Forge partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and residents to support community initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison to provide updates and progress reports to neighborhood stakeholders, including civic groups and associations.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular progress reports to management and participate in relevant meetings and training.
  • Advisory Role: Serve as a resource for various committees in planning and executing joint community efforts.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants should demonstrate a strong connection to the District of Columbia, particularly through experience in community organizing within its neighborhoods. Knowledge of local agencies and community organizations is essential, along with the ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Residency Requirement: Candidates must be District of Columbia residents at the time of appointment or become residents within a specified timeframe. Continued residency is required throughout the duration of employment.
