Our headquarters based in White Plains, NY is seeking a Vice President Of Purchasing & Inventory. This individual will Effectively lead and manage the Purchasing / Buying and Product Management functions across the company with the goal of: ordering the right product, in the right amount, at the right cost, delivered to the right location, selling at the most beneficial price/gross margin contribution, and with the most beneficial vendor rebate and terms.

Responsibilities for the Role:

Vendor & Inventory Management
  • Vendor Relationships & management: establish, foster, and maintain relationships with key material vendors. Ensure vendor service levels are reached. Pursue new vendor lines in key regional territories as necessary.
  • Vendor negotiation: lead vendor rebate negotiations, both company-wide and within regions. Work in tandem with accounting/finance on tracking of rebates and deals.
  • Bulk / Tier 1 purchasing: leverage the company's buying base and cost effectively purchase items across the enterprise. Negotiate fair costs and terms. Support NCBP sales team on customer job buys & associated pricing.
  • Management / Leadership of the HQ Supply team: Ensure the HQ Buying team and HQ Pricing team, follows best practices and provides value to the company.
  • Maintain buying SOP's and KPI metrics: influence both HQ & local branch replenishment via the NCBP buying SOP.Monitor company-wide KPI metrics as relevant: inventory levels, turns, aged inventory, minimum & maximum settings, etc... Set in place corrective actions as necessary.
  • Vendor advertising co-op: lead vendor co-op advertising deals. Work in collaboration with marketing/sales for the utilization of co-op funds.
Product Pricing
  • Optimize pricing: with the goal of achieving gross margin thresholds above cost.
  • Item price levels: Maintain and establish (as necessary) list prices and price levels in coordination with market factors and 'zones'.
  • Customer price levels: Oversee the maintenance and setup of customer assignments to price levels.
Product Management
  • NCBP Private Label product management: vendor selection & relationship, branch sell % targets and driving of performance.
  • Product preference & information: communication of company-wide preferred product sales (i.e., prioritization of which vendor / item to market vs. other 'like' items). Set targets and review performance by branch. Communication of product information as needed (cost increases, design changes, etc.).
  • Product Group Major & Minor sales & gross margin: Work with NCBP sales and support product sales & associated gross margins by branch. Communicate corrective actions as necessary and set targets.
NCBP Senior Leadership Team
  • Lead and Manage the Supply Chain Division (HQ buyers & Pricing/Inventory teams). Mentor and develop team's competence & capabilities.
  • Active member of the NCBP Senior Leadership Team: branch performance reviews, new geographic market analysis, active participation in trade shows & associations, talent acquisition & evaluation, collaboration on best practices as it relates to Finance / Operations / HR, and mentorship / guidance on managing a growing business.
Qualifications:
  • Business related degree from a reputable institution or equivalent professional qualification along with 7 to 10 years experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Strong Vendor relationship management experience, both in maintaining and strengthening existing vendors as well as seeking and onboarding new vendors as necessary.
  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate with multiple vendors on purchasing items (delivery, price, quantity).
  • Solid background in inventory control, minimum / maximum settings, inventory turn analysis and recommending & implementing corrective actions.
  • Team-leadership, setting of expectations and accountability, and the ability to organize collaboration amongst various areas.
  • Experience with pricing methodologies, price families, price tier structures and price elasticity.
  • Technical expertise in navigating and administering software programs, i.e., DMSI/Agility ERP system, and a working knowledge of Office systems (GMAIL, Sheets/Excel, Docs/Word, Slides/PowerPoint).
  • Residential & Commercial Roofing product knowledge, in addition to general building product knowledge, is highly desirable.
  • Superior attention to detail, dedication to planning & scheduling workloads, along with exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills are required as well as the judgment and discretion needed to respond to confidential information.
  • You will be expected to perform other duties as assigned.
