Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Grants Administrative Specialist provides a full range of administrative, financial, and other support associated with pre- and post-award sponsored research activities and services on routine sponsored projects such as federal grants, foundation grants, and industrial contracts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates operational and programmatic support for research programs and initiatives, as well as education initiatives as needed.
  • Provides administrative support with grant transactions including the review and approval of purchases/charges and reconciliation of accounts; payment requests; and preparation of expenditure correction requests.
  • Edits and proposes changes to administrative documents or program requirements.
  • Coordinates the administration and submission of research grant and contract applications.
  • May assist with the development and implementation of the general and project-related budgeting process.
  • May oversee support staff and delegate work assignments.
  • Ensures program(s) meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for procurement activities related to goods, services, and/or equipment as needed, and disbursement/reimbursement activities as needed.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately.
  • Coordinates calendars and schedules appointments and meetings. Prioritizes requests for meetings and coordinates the necessary arrangements for meetings.
  • May assist faculty with new funding opportunities.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Experience
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of research grants is highly desired.
  • Approximately 3 years of related experience, preferably within the medical research field
