Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a Program Manager, Entrepreneurial Development. The Program Manager, Entrepreneurial Development, is responsible for creating and supporting new and existing programs that contribute to the development of faculty, student and community entrepreneurs and small business success through federally funded programs, business incubation and acceleration, and technology commercialization. This position designs and executes entrepreneurial programming and manages the development of a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

This position will support the statewide SAGE program (described below) designed to help technology entrepreneurs in Nevada. The ideal candidate will also develop strategies for applying for and managing grants and programs that support entrepreneurship, communicate and share resources with program stakeholders, coordinate educational events, and establish new programs to grow and strengthen the innovation ecosystem in Nevada.

Duties include but are not limited to:

SAGE (Sierra Accelerator for Growth and Entrepreneurship) Program Management
  • Manages SAGE program funded by the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) to increase Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants in Nevada.
  • Assists statewide entrepreneurs with eligibility, identifies suitable grant solicitations, review pre-proposal requirements, and provides other assistance for successful proposal submission and award potential.
  • Conducts data gathering, surveys and analyses to report on demographics, outcomes, metrics, and critical information for all stakeholders.
  • Creates and manages program budget and resources.
  • Cultivates relationships with community partners, stakeholders, local industry and university faculty, staff and students across the state and support their entrepreneurship activities.
  • Oversees outreach initiatives for SAGE program, through various channels, newsletters, university and partner communications, promotion methods. Promotes SAGE program to potential candidates.
  • Develops, organizes, and delivers educational programs to community entrepreneurs and university members.
  • Hires, trains, performs evaluations, and disciplines interns and student workers.
  • Collaborates with Research and Innovation's Marketing and Communications and ensures timely updates to the SAGE website content, program events, and activities.
Entrepreneurial Program Development
  • Researches and develops grant funded entrepreneurship programs and initiatives beyond SBIR/STTR including but not limited to the NSF I-Corps and programs funded by US Small Business Administrations (SBA), the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) and other state and federal agencies.
  • Researches, prepares, and submits grant proposals for federally funded entrepreneurship programs to ensure long-term sustainability.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two years (2) of related experience OR

Master's Degree and one (1) year of related experience

Related Experience: Project or program management, market research, preparing and/or reviewing technology/business pitches, working with entrepreneurs and startups or related.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
