Position Overview

AECOM is on the lookout for a highly skilled senior geotechnical and/or civil engineer and project manager to enhance our mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis within the Mining division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects focusing on the design, investigation, analysis, construction, and operation of Tailings Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining initiatives.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of mid- to large-scale, complex projects or multiple moderately sized projects with significant risk and financial implications.
  • Collaborate with existing and prospective clients to deliver sustainable solutions for mine tailings facilities.
  • Develop project proposals and work alongside mining business leaders to expand our Mining practice.
  • Guide and mentor technical staff in executing project tasks effectively.
  • Conduct independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs, providing necessary approvals.
  • May lead project teams comprising five or more members from various disciplines, including subcontractors.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering projects, emphasizing the design and operations of mine tailings projects.
  • Advise clients on engineering matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or the ability to obtain it within one year.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in tailings storage facility design, evaluation (including PSHA analysis, material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses), construction oversight, and operations.
  • Progressive project experience with task leadership and deputy Engineer-of-Record roles on design and design-build projects.
  • Ability to act as the primary client contact and cultivate client relationships.
  • Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of standard geotechnical and hydrological software and evaluations.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented professional.
