Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Clinical Services, this role entails providing continuous oversight to all personnel engaged in social services and therapeutic functions. The incumbent will monitor case load distributions, program assignments, and the execution of departmental services. This position encompasses a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions for patients dealing with psychiatric challenges, including crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, group therapy, and psycho-educational services. A robust understanding of community resources and age-specific interventions relevant to the patient demographic is essential.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Facilitates the integration of social services programs with other organizational initiatives in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Delivers in-service training for social service personnel and other staff as required.
  • Supervises and assesses clinical consultations conducted by staff to guarantee effective service delivery.
  • Offers support to staff to enhance all aspects of patient care.
  • Conducts psychosocial evaluations to gather patient history and identify key treatment issues through interviews with patients and their families.
  • Administers group and family-oriented therapies while leading educational and didactic sessions for patients and their families using diverse professional treatment modalities.
  • Responsible for organizing schedules and staffing to ensure adequate service coverage.
  • Develops and coordinates tailored discharge plans for patients by utilizing treatment team insights and documented information to ascertain aftercare requirements.
  • Participates in regular treatment team meetings to provide social work insights into comprehensive patient management by reviewing progress notes and discussing any legal obligations for case management.
  • Maintains current knowledge of referral sources and engages effectively with patients, colleagues, and other staff regarding suitable treatment options.
  • Establishes and nurtures effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, and other health professionals within the community and facility.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in assessing client crises and clinical indicators.
  • Prepares timely written reports of assessment findings, including recommendations for care levels and treatment needs.
  • Implements appropriate interventions during assessments and crisis situations involving clients, families, and other professionals.
  • Evaluates the necessity for involuntary hospitalization and coordinates with crisis teams or law enforcement as needed to ensure client safety.
  • Maintains awareness of developmental tasks and sociological theories relevant to specific age groups, as well as legal guidelines regarding EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
  • Stays informed about the organization’s programs and services.
  • Engages in professional development activities to enhance personal growth.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Adheres to the organization’s ethical standards and customer service expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Licensure:

  • Master's degree in behavioral science or a related mental health field is required.

· A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.

  • Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Nevada is preferred.
  • Comfort and familiarity with mental health diagnoses, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and trauma history are essential.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Preferred clinical, supervisory, and administrative experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency settings.

· General knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment modalities.

· Experience in staff management, development, and supervision.

· Proficiency in diagnosis, psychotherapy, and assessment-based treatment planning.

· Maintains current knowledge of available social, medical, and psychiatric services within the community.

· Experience with therapeutic limit-setting or understanding of behavior management systems is beneficial.

· Ability to maintain professional boundaries at all times.

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assist with activities of daily living and provide educational support.

Physical Requirements:

This position frequently requires the following physical activities:

· Bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

· Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying objects.

· Communicating ideas clearly and effectively.

· Meeting minimum hearing and visual acuity standards.

· Lifting up to 50 pounds and exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.

· While the role may involve exposure to temperature changes, it is primarily conducted indoors.
