Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Clinical Services, this role is responsible for the daily oversight of staff engaged in social services and therapeutic practices. The position involves monitoring case load and program assignments, ensuring the effective implementation of departmental services. The manager will provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions for patients dealing with psychiatric challenges, including crisis management, individual and family therapy, group therapy, and psycho-educational support.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Facilitates the integration of social services programs with other organizational initiatives in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Conducts training sessions for social service personnel and other staff as required.
  • Evaluates clinical consultations performed by staff to guarantee effective service delivery.
  • Offers guidance to staff to enhance the quality of care provided.
  • Performs psychosocial evaluations to document patient history and identify treatment focus areas through interviews with patients and their families.
  • Delivers group and family therapies, as well as educational sessions for patients and their families utilizing various professional treatment methods.
  • Manages scheduling and staffing to ensure sufficient coverage.
  • Develops and coordinates personalized discharge plans for patients, utilizing treatment team insights and documentation to assess aftercare requirements.
  • Participates in regular treatment team meetings to contribute social work insights to comprehensive patient management by reviewing progress notes and discussing legal requirements with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintains current knowledge of referral sources and engages effectively with patients, colleagues, and other staff regarding suitable treatment options.
  • Establishes and nurtures productive working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, community health professionals, and other departments.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in assessing client crises and clinical indicators.
  • Prepares timely written reports of assessment findings, including recommendations for care levels and treatment needs.
  • Implements appropriate interventions during assessments and crisis situations involving clients, families, and other professionals.
  • Evaluates the necessity for involuntary hospitalization and coordinates with crisis teams or law enforcement as needed to ensure client safety.
  • Maintains knowledge of developmental tasks and sociological theories relevant to the patient demographic served, as well as legal guidelines related to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
  • Stays informed about the organization's programs and services.
  • Engages in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Adheres to the organization's ethical standards and customer service expectations.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure:

  • Master's degree in behavioral science or a related mental health field is required.

· A minimum of three years of clinical experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.

  • Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Nevada is preferred.
  • Experience with mental health diagnoses, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and trauma history is essential.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Preferred experience in clinical, supervisory, and administrative roles within inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency settings.

· Comprehensive understanding of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment practices.

· Proven experience in staff management, development, and supervision.

· Familiarity with diagnosis, psychotherapy, and assessment-based treatment planning.

· Up-to-date knowledge of community social, medical, and psychiatric services.

· Understanding of therapeutic limit-setting and behavior management techniques is advantageous.

· Ability to maintain professional boundaries is essential.

Physical Requirements:

This position frequently requires the following physical activities:

· Bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

· Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying objects.

· Clear and effective verbal communication.

· Meeting minimum hearing standards.

· Lifting up to 50 pounds and exerting force as needed.

· Meeting minimum visual acuity standards.

· While the role may involve exposure to temperature changes, it is primarily conducted indoors.
