Job Description

The University of Nevada- Reno Extension is recruiting for a Program Officer 1 for Clark County. This position is located in Las Vegas. The Program Officer 1 will manage the Early Childhood Workforce Development Program, a large and complex program. In the past year, the program successfully facilitated over 30,000 online courses and more than 450 in-person/virtual courses, benefiting over 10,000 early childhood professionals.

The Program Officer 1 will plan, coordinate, and manage the activities for this program. This position will engage in goal setting, program development and implementation; program organization, planning and evaluation; research techniques, data collection, analysis, report preparation, and overseeing program budgets. This position will identify programmatic and operational problems, investigate and evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions. This position will analyze, evaluate, and solve challenges related to program implementation and delivery and evaluate program effectiveness. The Program Officer 1 will make decisions regarding scheduling, document preparation, site coordination, marketing, community connections, and support faculty and staff in program delivery. This position will oversee the collection, maintenance, and organization of required program records and documentation including financial records, and tracking budgets and expenses for the program.

Required Qualifications
  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid Class "C" Nevada driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

This position requires working a variable schedule; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 31

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
