Key Responsibilities
The ACO is the primary liaison with aviation organizations, responsible for issuing certificates and monitoring compliance. Their duties include:

  • Evaluating and approving proposals for modifications to authorized programs.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments of organizations to ensure adherence to their approved programs, federal regulations, and best safety practices.
  • Managing complex aviation operations, including general aviation aircraft and diverse maintenance operations.

Independence and Technical Expertise
In this role, the ACO operates with significant technical autonomy, receiving guidance from supervisors and policy makers while also seeking specialized advice from senior inspectors. They are responsible for developing and managing a work program that aligns with organizational objectives.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Aviation Compliance Officer position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Must possess a valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • No history of chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could affect job performance.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Medical Requirements
Candidates must be physically capable of performing the duties of the Aviation Compliance Officer role safely and efficiently. This includes:

  • Good distant vision in each eye and the ability to read printed materials without strain.
  • The ability to hear conversational speech.
  • No physical conditions that would pose a risk to themselves or others while flying as passengers in various aircraft.

Specialized Experience
Applicants should demonstrate specialized experience in aviation maintenance, including:

  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems.
  • Maintenance experience with aircraft weighing 12,500 pounds or less.
  • Experience in a repair station, air carrier, or military facility.
