Job Overview: The Grants Coordinator is a new role within the IRC in Denver team that will work to leverage public and private funding opportunities for the IRC in Denver office through prospecting, proposal writing, grants management and reporting, and sub-award management. The Grants Coordinator serves as a member of the Resource Development Department and works closely with the Senior Development Manager, Grants Specialist, Finance, and Program Managers. The Grants Coordinator works to ensure the IRC in Denver has adequate resources to support programs and services and is responsible for raising an agreed upon annual financial goal. The Grants Coordinator will be responsible for conducting pre- and post-award activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grants consistent with IRC policies and in accordance with funder requirements.Major Responsibilities:Grants Management
  • Manage pre- and post-award grant development, review, submission, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting cycles.
  • Write compelling grant narratives and craft key materials to put forward compelling proposals that fulfill donor requirements and meet RAI business development standards.
  • Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals with a focus on grant funding.
  • Assist the Senior Development Manager in the development of an annual fundraising plan with specific and measurable goals and objectives for development of restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Implement a strategy linked to the fundraising plan to solicit new sources of unrestricted and private cash funding through the submission of proposals, letters of inquiry, and other requests for funding.
  • Research private and public grant opportunities and serve as the focal person for the development of new proposals with program managers.
  • Oversee the preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets and support with reports to local foundations and other potential donors to solicit resources for programs in collaboration with program staff, the Grants Specialist, the Senior Development Manager, and the Finance Manager.
  • Ensure the effective maintenance of contract and grant files for each funded program with consistent documentation standards.
  • Work closely with program managers and staff to prepare interim and final reports to grantors.
  • Liaise with the headquarters' revenue, grants and business development staff on all new contracts, grants, and sub-grants.
  • Manage the proposal submission process via OTIS by coordinating with program managers and headquarters staff to ensure on-time submission of proposals.
  • Shepherd all subaward and formal partnerships through the IRC's global PEERS process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Supervise the Grants Specialist
  • Provide leadership in accordance with IRC's People Manager Standards, including:
  • Convening regular one on one meetings with direct report.
  • Effectively delegating duties and responsibilities.
Job Requirements:Education:
  • Undergraduate degree in related field such as English, journalism, or nonprofit management, or comparable work experience, required. Certification or continuing education in grant writing, proposal development, project management, and/or fundraising a plus.
Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in a related professional role, with demonstrated success in proposal/grant writing.
  • Program management or supervisory functions experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in refugee resettlement or a refugee-serving organization is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with philanthropic landscape of the Denver metro area preferred.

  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Working Environment:
  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs.
